Kucha - Niya - Hotan - Kashgar (Three days tour)
    Day 01
Today, after an early breakfast, we will drive into the Taklimakan Desert. The desert is the second largest shifting sand desert in the world. It is very dangerous to trek without any special desert equipment or knowledge and a local saying goes that whomever goes in, never comes out.
You will love the amazing sand dunes along the Taklimakan Desert Highway and we can stop as often as you like to take photos or trek amidst the dunes. This is a great chance to experience the real desert on your trip. Highlights along our route include a Natural Poplar Tree forest and time along the Tarim River. We will also stop for photos at other scenic spots along the way. Our day ends in Niya around 5:00pm local time, where we will check into Niya Gong Yu Hotel or Baorui hotel.
    Day 02
    Niya 鈥?Keriya -Hotan (303km/188miles)
After breakfast, we visit the Niya Museum, famous for its amazingly well-preserved mummies excavated from Niya ancient city. From there we push on to Hotan, stopping off at the town of Keriya on route. Keriya ladies are reputed to wear the smallest women鈥檚 hat in the world. After a local lunch, we reach Hotan at 2.00pm local time. Following a brief one hour rest at Muztagh Hotel (or Hotan Binguan), we will visit the Kara Kax river (Black Jade River), where locals to this day still hunt for Jade. We also visit Silk and Atlas cloth (a local Uyghur cloth made from silk) work shops, a traditional Carpet Factory and the Imam Asim Tomb. The latter tomb is particularly famous amongst locals in and around Hotan. In May, many people come from far and wide to pray at the tomb. They regard it as a holy place as there are few tombs and large mosques in Xinjiang for locals to pray in. Some local people also slaughter sheep or goats whose skulls and hides can sometimes be seen on site. We return back to the hotel around 6:30pm local time.
    Day 03
    Hotan -Yarkand - Kashgar (540km/336miles)
At 7:30am local time we drive to nearby Malike Awat ancient city, 25kms away from Hotan. Then we will head to Kashgar. On the way, we will stop in Kargilik to visit the Jamma Mosque and local market around there. For lunch, we will stop in Yarkand.
At one time, Yarkand was the capital of Uyghur kingdoms in Xinjiang and has long been a cradle of Uyghur Civilisation. After lunch, we will visit the Golden Mosque, Amannisahan Tomb (a famous musician in 16th Century.), Tomb of Kings during the Seidiye Kingdom and an interesting graveyard for locals in the Town. During the time of the Silk Road, Yarkand was a developed city and a major transportation hub. Throughout history, many musicians from India and Kashmir came here to learn.
We will spend a half-hour walking around the old town and then drive on to Kashgar. In Yengisar (meaning new fort), we will stop off to visit a knife factory, for which the town is famous. Most Uyghur men wear knives as part of local custom and almost all come from Yengisar. The town is famous throughout Xinjiang and here you can see real experts at work. Arrival in Kasghar at 4.30pm and check in to either Chini Bagh or Seman Hotel.
Our service will end today with a farewell dinner at the Popular Intezar restaurant. You are welcome to join or add new tour programmes for extra days in Kashgar or around the Kashgar area. Please check tours around Kashgar for more details. We are always at your service to help you with any problems and we hope you enjoy your limited time here. Our service is always exceptional and prices forever reasonable.
